Paspalis has a long history of investment in Chinese art.
In the early 1970s Paspalis partnered with Mrs Shia Ping Lee to establish the world-renowned Eileen Kershaw Antiques in the Peninsula Hotel, Kowloon in Hong Kong. At that time Paspalis purchased the basis of its Chinese art collection.
In 2015 one of the highlights of this collection, a set of four “famille-rose” Eight Immortals panels by Wang Qi (1884-1937), was sold by Paspalis in New York for a world record price of USD $1.8m. (See Sotheby’s Article) This sale saw the return of this important historical work to China where it is now exhibited in the Wang Qi Art Museum in Chongqing, China.
The most recent acquisition made in March 2017 is an acrylic on canvas by emerging Chinese contemporary artist, Zhou Lian Hua entitled the “Convergence of Heaven & Earth”.
