We invite you to submit an expression of interest to participate in a free Invest in me, Invest in my Science program that will provide an intimate approach to career coaching and science entrepreneurship. This program is tailored to women scientists and science practitioners who are keen to demonstrate and communicate the broader value of themselves and their science idea, and be supported to translate this into real-world applications.
This program will involve your participation in weekly 1 hour on-line lunch time career coaching over a six week period from Monday 18 February – Monday 13 May 2019. Successful participants will also engage in a face-to-face workshop for a day in Darwin where you will be supported to develop, pitch and test your great science idea. The workshop will be held in early May. We will cover all your food, travel and accommodation costs to attend.
To apply we invite you to submit the following two (2) items by 5pm Friday 7 December 2018
- A one-minute audition video that summarizes who you are and what you do
Your pitch should stand alone without requiring an introduction or any on-screen graphics. Please DO NOT to use a professional production crew, have fun and keep it simple! Please either film yourself “selfie-style” using your own handheld device (eg smartphone or tablet) or enlist the help of a friend to hold the device. Please make sure your video is one continuous shot with no editing or production.
- A letter of support from your employer.
The express support of your employer is vital to your success on this program. Please use the text in this word document to print on your employer’s letterhead and have it read, understood, completed and signed by your manager or supervisor. If you are self-employed, please fill this out on your own behalf.
How do I submit my application?
Email your video and letter of support to Professor Cathy Robinson, Director of the Northern Australia Research Alliance at Cathy.Robinson@cdu.edu.au/Catherine.Robinson@csiro.au or Katrina.Britnell@cdu.edu.au by 5pm Friday 7 December 2018
